Trusting the Team: My Experience as a Client

This past Fourth of July, I put my own lockbox out for a pet sitter.
As a manager at The Right Fluff, I’ve walked countless clients through the process of booking pet sitting visits, reassuring them that their pets will be in the most caring and capable hands. From being on the other side of everything, I knew my cats were going to get loving, detail-oriented care. But I didn’t expect to be so nervous about it!
No amount of knowledge or experience could prepare me for the feeling of being away from my fur babies. I found myself checking and rechecking for the visit report to come through. I’ve seen so many messages from our team! But still, at that moment, I was just another pet parent, missing my cats and hoping they were okay.
When the first day’s visit report came in, I was in the car with my family. Everyone leaned in, excited to hear how the cats were doing. The heartfelt and detailed message made us laugh with how the cats’ personalities were shining through.
And the best part was the photos… and a very unexpected surprise!

My tuxedo cat, Gnocchi, is famously shy. He takes a long time to warm up to new people, and I didn’t expect him to come out from his hiding place at all while the sitter was there. But there he was in the pictures, not only out in the open, but eating treats from Katelyn’s hand. I couldn’t believe it! I felt so relieved and touched. It meant the world to see him safe, comfortable, and even engaging.
That visit set the tone for the rest of the trip. Knowing that my cats were in such good hands allowed me to truly relax and enjoy time with my family. Each report that came in was a reminder of the thoughtful, compassionate care our sitters give; something I’ve always known, but now felt in a much more personal way.
This experience reminded me that pet sitting isn’t just about checking off a list of tasks. It’s about building trust, respecting routines, and understanding what makes each animal unique. Whether it’s a shy cat like Gnocchi or a high-energy pup, our team shows up with patience, kindness, and heart.
Getting to experience The Right Fluff’s services as a client gave me a whole new perspective and an even deeper appreciation for what we do. I’ve always been proud of our team, but now I have a whole new level of confidence in the care we provide. It’s one thing to talk about how great our sitters are; it’s another to see your own shy cat come out of hiding because he feels safe with them. I came back from my trip feeling incredibly grateful not just as a manager, but as a pet parent too!
